This hardy species can grow up to 2 m tall and produces light purple flower spikes and pleasantly aromatic foliage.

In the United States, it is known as "Giant Purple Hyssop". The name Agastache comes from the Greek aga, meaning "abundance", and stachys, meaning "ear".
