Japanese wormwood - Artemisia

This perennial wormwood can grow to over a metre in height. Extremely medicinal, it is used in the composition of moxas in Chinese and Japanese medicine. Its leaves repel insects and are used in fumigation rituals.

Very popular in Japan - where this species is known as Yomogi, Kui-hao and Ssuk - its young leaves are eaten as a condiment.
