"Richard Bradley's "Dictionarium Botanicum

This ancient variety is described in Vilmorin-Andrieux's 1885 book "Les Plantes Potagères". It is thought to have originated in the town of Monticello in France. It is also called "Gotte dorée". It is a form of the "White-Seeded Tennis Ball" variety, first mentioned by Richard Bradley in 1728 in his "Dictionarium Botanicum". It was recorded in Boston in 1775. In the United States, it became known as the "Boston Market" variety.
