Recommendations for use

Rich in nitrogen, nettle manure is best used while the plant is growing. When fruiting, you can then use fermented comfrey extract (during growth: 2/3 fermented nettle extract

• 1/3 fermented comfrey extract. During fruiting: 1/3 fermented nettle extract + 2/3 fermented comfrey extract). During fruiting, little fermented nettle extract is used, to avoid excessive leaf growth to the detriment of the fruit.

• As a preventive measure, fermented nettle extract, used in synergy with fermented kelp extract, is excellent against mildew (80% reduction). If you wish to treat a plant already infested by fungus or pests (such as aphids), use a maceration or decoction instead. The sugars contained in fermented extracts risk doing the opposite: feeding the pests rather than scaring them away.

Fighting downy mildew with Fermented Nettle Extract

Downy mildew is a fungal disease of plants. Its appearance and spread are favored by heat and humidity. It can be harmful to both amateur and professional gardeners. Nevertheless, it can be easily and quickly identified: brownish-yellow spots appear above the leaves. These then gradually dry out. Since it can survive in the soil for 3 to 5 years and is frost-resistant, there are a number of ways to prevent infection: water without wetting the leaves, grow under cover, rotate crops from one year to the next and, above all, aerate the vegetable garden well: in the greenhouse or garden, remember to space the plants far enough apart so that the leaves can dry out.

But what to do once mildew has set in? The first recommendation is to cut off infested leaves, taking care not to leave them at the foot of crops, as this could spread the infection to the soil.

There are also natural solutions for curative or preventive treatment, depending on how advanced the disease is.

Fermented extract should be used PREVENTIVELY. It stimulates the plant's natural defenses to combat disease and parasites more effectively. It can be used as a foliar spray diluted to 5% (as soon as leaf spots appear) or as a soil spray diluted to 10% (if the area where the plants are located was infested the previous year), at a rate of 2 to 3 applications per month. It's important to keep to this dosage, as Fermented Extracts contain sugar, and overdosing would have the opposite effect: it would become palatable to diseases and parasites.

This soil treatment is best applied during the plant's growth phase.

For greater effectiveness against mildew, use fermented nettle extract in synergy withfermented kelp extract.

Dilutions

To dilute plant extracts, use rainwater or spring water at room temperature. Tap water contains too much chlorine and limestone, which xyde the soil. It can alter the effects of soil care by counteracting the effect of bacteria.

For foliar spraying, dilute at 5%: 0.5 L in 10 liters of rainwater, 2 to 3 times a month.

For soil watering, dilute at 10%: 1L in 10 liters of rainwater, 2 to 3 times a month.

Manufacturing methods for Elementerre fermented extracts

The nettle used to make our fermented extracts is freshly hand-picked during the harvesting season, or grown by ourselves or a local organic farmer. Fermentation is controlled anaerobically (without air) to avoid any risk of oxidation. Addition of 0.3% spontaneous effective micro-organisms.
