This very old variety produces a very white, fine-grained apple with a crunchy texture. The outer leaves are slightly corrugated and fold down towards the ground. The stem is fairly short.

Sow in pots under cover. Cover seeds with a thin layer of soil. Transplant when plants have 2 to 3 leaves, at 10 cm intervals, to allow roots to develop before planting. Transplant when plants have 4 to 5 leaves, every 50 cm in rows 50 cm apart, without burying the stem too deeply. For sowing in the open ground, sow lightly in rows 50 cm apart. Thin to 50 cm along the row.
Spring sowing is possible as long as it is carried out just after the last frosts, to minimize the risk of early bolting.

This ancient variety is mentioned in Vilmorin-Andrieux's 1885 book "Les Plantes Potagères". It is also known as "Palla di Neve", "Early Snowball", "d'Erfurt", "Enana de Erfurt". There are references to it as early as 1830.
