Blue Butterfly Dots - Clitoria
Fast-growing and vigorous, the blue pea is a climbing species that can reach up to 3 m in height. It produces an abundance of blue flowers, with white and yellow hearts, used as a coloring agent in cooking.
Sow in cups, cover very lightly with light substrate or vermiculite and place seedlings under a warm, bright shelter. Ideally, place the seedlings in a mini-greenhouse or enclose them in a transparent plastic bag at a constant temperature of 20-25°C until germination. Water by capillary action by placing the cups in a tub filled with water.
Acclimatize young plants to outdoor conditions for several weeks before installing them in the garden. Plant when frosts are no longer a concern, 30 to 50 cm apart in all directions, in a well-lit spot, but away from direct sunlight, and provide support to enable plants to climb. Regularly remove spent flowers to encourage their renewal.
