This variety has large, slightly tart-tasting stalks that can be used in jams, marmalades and pie fillings. As with all rhubarb, the leaves should not be eaten.

In spring: sow a few seeds per bucket, in a cold greenhouse or under a frame, and keep only the most vigorous seedling. Transplant at 4 or 5 leaves in the nursery. Plant out in autumn or the following spring. In autumn: sow a few seeds every 30 cm in all directions in a well-exposed nursery. Thin out to keep only the most vigorous seedlings. Set out in spring, 1 m apart. Clumps can be divided in April or September.
