Terra Prêta
Terra Prêta, or black earth in Portuguese, is an artificial soil created in the Amazon between 800 and 500 BC by a pre-Columbian civilization that has now disappeared. It is one of the most fertile soils in the world. It's a living, porous soil, home to thousands of micro-organisms that contribute to the soil's fertility and structure. It has a self-renewing capacity of 1 cm per year. Rich in micro-organisms, minerals and trace elements, it boosts microbiological life and reinforces plants' immune defenses.
Packaging:
- 3 kg (4.66 € /kg)
- 6 kg (3.66 € /kg)
Beneficial effects
- Reduces soil leaching (transport of nutrients from the soil to deeper layers by rain). Terra Prêta contains Biochar, whose porosity provides a refuge for micro-organisms.
- Improves water retention, and all the nutrients needed for plant development.
- Adds humus and stable carbon to the soil, promoting plant growth and improving yields.
- Rich in humic and fulvic acid, organic acids beneficial to plant growth. They help increase plant nutrient uptake.
- Re-energizes depleted soils.
- Improves porosity: soil becomes more permeable.
Directions for use
- Mix 200 to 500 grs of Terra Prêta for 1 m2 of soil.
- For pot cultivation, mix 1/3 Terra Prêta and 2/3 substrate.
- Store in a dry place away from sources of heat and light.
Composition
Finely ground volcanic basalt 0/2 mm, Lombricompost, Biochar, Fermented Plant Extract, seaweed, oyster powder, selected micro-organisms.
How Terra Prêta is made
This Terra Prêta is handcrafted by Elementerre on their farm. Made in Brittany, it can be used in Organic Agriculture NF U44-051.
ÉlémenTerre
Élémenterre is an artisanal Breton company specializing in the manufacture of organic and mineral soil improvers, fermented extracts of wild plants, beneficial indigenous micro-organisms since 2017. Pascal Le Palud, an earthworm farmer since 2009, and Emmanuel Boutet, a landscape gardener, are the co-founders of Élémenterre. Trained by Eric Petiot in 2015, they are committed to continuous improvement, listening to their customers and ongoing training. Since the beginning of 2020, they have been working on developing a network of small artisan producers and collaborative research with scientists around water, energy agriculture, algae and seawater. ÉlémenTerre is inspired by ancestral agricultural techniques to promote soil microbiology and make it self-sufficient, save water, give energy back to the soil, strengthen plants' immune defenses, structure and regenerate humus, and improve the taste and nutritional quality of fruit and vegetables.
