Sweet Siberian - Watermelon
This ancient variety produces fruit up to 60 cm long and weighing up to 4 kg. The light-green skin encloses juicy yellow flesh. Seeds are small and brown.

Sow in pots at temperatures between 20 and 30°C, 6 weeks before planting. Transplant with the root ball, after the last frosts, in planting holes enriched with compost, spaced 1.5 m apart in all directions. Sowing in the open ground is possible, under the same conditions, when the soil is well warmed and outside temperatures no longer fall below 15°C.

This ancient variety was first introduced by Peter Henderson & Co. in 1898. It was subsequently bred by Glenn Drowns, who presented it at the Seed Savers Exchange in 1987.
