Salvia miltiorrhiza - Sage
This perennial species, native to Manchuria, has blue flowers and very fragrant foliage. It is one of the major medicinal plants in the Traditional Chinese Pharmacopoeia, and its roots are the most prized.

Sow in pots or nursery at 18°C minimum. Cover seeds and keep moist. Transplant after last frost, when plants have 4-5 leaves, 50 cm apart in all directions. For direct sowing, wait for soil to warm up. Thin to 50 cm in all directions. Seed germination can sometimes take a long time.
