Sow on the surface, in a terrine, under a well-lit shelter, 8 to 10 weeks before final planting. Temperature should be above 15°C. Press lightly and keep moist. Transplant into pots at the 2-leaf stage. Plant out when plants have 4 to 5 leaves, 35 cm apart in all directions, in well-warmed soil.

Germination of celeriac seeds can be long and tricky, and the roots can be harvested before the first frost.
