This very old variety produces butternut-like fruits weighing 5 to 10 kg with long, often curved necks. Their dark orange flesh has a very pleasant flavor. They keep for up to 10 months.

Sow in pots at a temperature of between 18 and 20°C, 2 to 3 weeks before planting. This ancient American variety was popular in Pennsylvania in the 19th century and is still grown in many Amish communities. It is sometimes called "Neck pumpkin".
