Magenta Spreen - Lamb's Quarters and Company
Giant Chenopod Magenta Spreen produces pretty, soft-green leaves with a bright pink center, offering a tender texture and good flavor. They have a high mineral content and can be eaten like spinach, both raw and cooked.

Sow in trays or pots, under cover. Transplant at 50 cm in all directions, when plants are 10 to 15 cm tall, after the last frosts. Sow light-colored directly in place, in well-warmed soil, in rows 50 cm apart. Thin to 50 cm when plants have 5 to 6 leaves.
Renew seedlings every 3 weeks to stagger harvests. Water regularly, especially in dry spells. Pick leaves as needed, and prune plants to encourage "ball" growth.
