Glycyrrhiza yunnanensis - Licorice
This perennial species of Licorice is native to Yunnan, China. The seed pods are highly ornamental and red in color. The lilac flowers bloom on plants over 1 metre high.
It is a highly reputed plant in the Traditional Chinese Pharmacopoeia.

Before sowing, place seeds in a cold place for several weeks, e.g. in a refrigerator tray. Sow in cups under a light shelter, after scarifying and soaking seeds in warm water for 24 hours. Keep seeds lightly covered and moist until emergence. Transplant into warmed soil, in spring or autumn.
