Emilia javanica
From July to October, this species produces magnificent, small, pompon-shaped red flowers. It produces abundant foliage that can be eaten raw, in salads, or cooked, like spinach.

Sow indoors in spring at temperatures between 18° and 20°, in a substrate kept moist throughout emergence. It is also possible to sow directly into the ground once the soil has warmed up sufficiently. Cover the seeds lightly and press down gently.
This species likes well-drained, fairly dry soil and sunny locations.
