Doucette d'Alger - Fedia
This species, closely related to lamb's lettuce, originates from the Mediterranean basin and grows spontaneously in olive groves. It's a pretty annual, decorative and melliferous when you let its little pink flowers bloom! In salads, its green, fleshy leaves, which keep for almost 60 days after harvesting, add a nutty flavor.
It reseeds well if left to its own devices!
in bucket, in the ground
Sow lightly, directly in the ground, in rows 30 cm apart. Lightly cover seeds and press down. Thin to 10 cm after emergence. Keep soil cool. If Doucette is grown in full sun, lightly shade the rows.
When harvesting, cut the leaves off at the collar to allow second growth.
