Sow in a nursery or in the ground, lightly tamping the soil and keeping it cool. If necessary, thin out about 1 month after sowing. When plants have reached the size of a pencil, shorten the leaves and transplant every 10 to 12 cm, in 10 cm-deep furrows spaced 30 cm apart. In regions with mild climates, it is possible to sow in August and transplant in November for an early spring harvest.
Leeks only need water in the event of prolonged drought or hot weather.
